Spring Showers

Its finally that time of year again where the blackened snow melts and the flowers come back to life. For those of you in Chicago we have waited quite some time for spring! We deserve a hell of a great summer! Here is an outfit I put together. Can you tell I'm very into neutrals with a pop of color?

Jacket: The Buckle
Top: Peter Pilotto

lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
memory and desire, stirring
dull roots with spring rain.

They Say You Learn Something New Everyday

I'm on sort of a stay-cation at the moment so I finally had some time to re-vamp my blog! Please, please, please let me know what you think! I appreciate all feedback! I'm pretty slow about learning all this blogging stuff so please be nice! Ha!

I recently discovered a few ground breaking things. Bloglovin. And LookBook. Please stop laughing, I know I'm slow. Also do you see those nice buttons to the right of my blog? I made those. I'm feeling pretty high and mighty right about now. But I can't take all the credit.

While scrolling through Instagram and newly discovered Bloglovin I came across some posts by Sara, which lead to more posts by her, which lead me to her facebook, which lead me to messaging her and asking her for some tips. She introduced me to LookBook today and I can't get enough! So here is one of my outfits on LookBook. Feel free to leave any comments! More to come in the re-vamping of Blonder Blogger!!

And thanks again to Sara at The Ivory Diary!

Pop Of Pink

As much as I love winter fashion, I love fashion that isn't covered by a knee length parka even more! Here is what I wore on me and Nick's latest trip to Chicago. The best part about this outfit is its casual, inexpensive and super cute! I love dressing in all neutrals with a single pop of color!

Scarf: The Gap
Sweatshirt: Khols
Pants and Boots: Target

{Coffee&Couture} Wonderful Winter Clothing

It amazes me how quick the years actually go by. When you're waiting for something for months, it's seems like it'll never come. Then you're a week away and you think where did the time go? In 9 days I will be graduating from college with a bachelors in human resource management. Not only that but this is my favorite time of year! Everything seems so magical. The pretty lights, the wonderful winter clothes and accessories, and all of the holidays and family gatherings! The Christmas movies and music and holiday drinks and hot chocolate! I love every part of it.

Here is an wonderful winter outfit I put together from Pinterest pictures. Because who doesn't love Pinterest?

Burton Player Flannel Shirt - Women's $74.95

Not sure if this is THE ONE, but I want a puffy vest. White, cream, black or brown. dont care where its from. prob a size medium.

Miss Me jeans with lace pockets (This is basically a doily sewn to a pocket under the flap- easy DIY though the pocket might not open afterwards)

Fashion boots

Fringe Eternity Scarf from Wet Seal #wetseal #winter #scarves #warm

Headbands

All these items together will not only keep you warm but look winterfully wonderful! (Yes, I know that isn't a word.) I hope you are all having a great Tuesday!

{Coffee&Couture} I Can See Clearly Now The Rain is Gone...

For those of you who know me know that I am supposed to wear glasses. However, I pick and choose the days I wear them. It usually depends on what I wear, how my hair is, or how bad my headache is. I'm not completely blind, however wearing them really does help a lot (as it should ha). However, for some reason there are days I feel like I look weird with my glasses and other days I feel like I look weird without them. Many people know I wear glasses, but most people think when I'm not wearing them I wear contacts. This is false. I don't know if you noticed this about me but I have really squinty eyes! I cannot physically open my eye big enough to actually get contacts in my eyes! I've succeeded only twice (once at the optometrist office and once at home) however I bought a year supply of contacts and just wasted them trying and failing to get them into my eyes. It’s pathetic, I know.

The glasses I picked out are actually very similar to Kourtney's (center) in this picture.

Yesterday I went to the optometrist to get my eyes tested. I've been getting just these awful headaches and I had a feeling it was my lack of glasses (I haven't had my eyes checked in years). My glasses helped the headaches but it hasn't helped enough. The optometrist told me the headaches are in fact caused by my eye sight since my astigmatism doubled. So I got my prescription and started glasses shopping! I was really excited! I’m sick of my glasses, and I swear this time I’m going to wear them every day like I should (let’s see how long that lasts). So at the place where I got my eyes tested I had no luck finding glasses. I found some I liked however when I Snap Chatted the pictures to Nick all I got were rejections. So today we went to a different place and the first pair I picked up was the pair I got! You will have to wait for a picture since it takes 7-10 days to come in but I cannot wait!

I love these glasses on Kailey Couco. Hopefully I can look this good in my new glasses!

{Coffee&Couture} Gossip Girl Style

So recently I've been re-watching the Gossip Girl TV series. I watched it when it was airing and I missed it so much I just had to watch it again! The drama is just out of control, nothing I would ever want for my own life but I love watching it! One thing I love about it is seeing all of the expensive clothes that I would never be able to afford in this life time.

Between Serena, Blair, Jenny and Vanessa I really cant decide whose style I like more! I think it would be a tie between Serena and Vanessa.

I always love Blair and Serena's dresses! Blair is always more classy and conservative, where Serena's normally shorter and lower. In this picture I love the black sparkle. I also love Serena's hair. I wish I could do a braid with my hair like this! I have too many layers though.

Between these two dresses I like Blair's the best. I love the subtle detail. However, I absolutely love Serena's hair here again! The headbands and the controlled mess looks really good on her.

Vanessa's style is very different than Serena's and Blair's. She has more of a hobo chic style. I really love this dress here. The bright colors really look well together and work for her.

Jenny's style tends to change a lot throughout the seasons. There is a pretty drastic change between seasons 1 and 2 and season 3. In the first two seasons she didn't have a lot of money to buy clothes like Serena and Blair. In season 3 her dad marries Serena's mom and she starts getting more expensive clothes, but the edginess stays consistent throughout.

Overall I really love more these these four characters wear throughout the series. There are bits and pieces of each of them that I would wear. But I love that there is a distinct style between all of them that coincides with their character in the TV show. And dammit I wish I could buy clothes like them!

DAY 7: 30 Day Scarf Challenge

So today I'm in sort of a blah mood. I'm just exhausted by the week, but I'm excited that I have a 3 day weekend! This will probably be my last 3 day weekend until after the holidays so I have to make the most of it! I can't wait to spend time with my boyfriend and my family and just relax! Now that I think about it maybe I should schedule a massage, these next couples weeks are going to be busy and stressful! But its all worth it! Work now, play later, right? So here is my lazy day scarf.

My cousin Natalie made this for me and its super comfortable!! It's seriously like a sweatshirt. Not only is this scarf perfect for lounging around the house and relaxing, but it is perfect for those cold nights! If I go out tonight I'm definitely wearing this since it'll be really warm with my winter jacket.

DAY 6: 30 Day Scarf Challenge

Hello everyone! Here is my scarf for Day 6.

Don't you love my new phone case??

This is what I was wearing today after work before I passed out on the couch because I'm not feeling well today! Lately, I feel like I'm stretching myself too thin. I just need to keep reminding myself 2 more weeks of classes, a week off for Thanksgiving, finals week, and then graduation! If only I could get over this cold which is doubled with allergies today. Is it bad that I want it to snow so my seasonal allergies will go away? Anyway, enough complaining on my end! Here is my scarf, since I didn't want to cover up my necklace today I chose to go with a smaller, lighter scarf. It is much thinner than most of the scarves I own as shown below.

All I did to get this look was tie the ends. But instead of tying the corners like I did for Day 1 and Day 3 I tied the entire ends into a knot.

Then wrapped it around my neck twice. Feel free to scarf your favorite scarf! You can contact me by commenting below or emailing me at CoffeeAndCourture@outlook.com.
I hope you are having a great Wednesday!

DAY 1: 30 Day Scarf Challenge

Hello and welcome to my 30 Day Scarf Challenge! The scarf is the most important part of a fall outfit and I will give you 30 reasons why this month. To quote Natalie,"You don't need a bunch of clothes if you have enough scarves to dress up any outfit!"

The scarf I chose for Day 1 of my 30 Day Scarf Challenge is one that I have bought most recently. It is something I wouldn't normally buy because it has skulls on it and I've never been into skulls, however you can't see the skulls when its draped around your neck! The colors are just perfect for most things that I wear. This is me just arriving to work. I'm wearing my navy North Face which brings out the navy in the scarf. Instead of wearing this scarf the traditional way of just wrapping it around your neck, I choose to mix it up a little.

Can you even tell there are skulls?

This is how I did this look.

First, I tied the opposite corners of the scarf in a knot.

Hang it around your neck like a giant necklace.

Take the bottom of the scarf and cross it over to make an 8.

Then take the bottom loop of the 8 and flip it over your head and voila!

Please leave any comments or questions below! Be sure to enter your email to follow my blog! Check in tomorrow to see Day 2 of my 30 Day Scarf Challenge.
